Denzel Curry

Denzel is one of my favorite hip hop artists to shoot. He is talented and charismatic. For the images below shot in Washington DC at Something In The Water, I got a little bit of a leg up. I was fortunate enough to be a staff shooter for this once in a lifetime event. On this afternoon, just before Denzel was to go on, one of the other staff shooters was going to take a break and asked if I would like to use her stage access pass? While we had free reign to go almost anywhere this was on the main stage which had much tighter restrictions. So of course my immediate response was YES! You didn’t need to ask me twice. The resulting images from that afternoon were special. It was loud on stage and I really got caught up in the moment, it was so loud I could not hear that my radio was blowing up in my ear piece with everyone looking for me to return her pass as she needed it to get on another stage. Eventually I heard the frantic calls and I came down from my high and the stage, and all was well. I hope she wasn’t too mad at me.
